At Electromaps, we're always looking for ways to improve user experience and create more efficient solutions for both EV drivers and our partners. That's why we're excited to introduce our new Plug Suggestion Feature—an intelligent system designed to suggest charging points to EV drivers based on specific criteria such as location, accessibility, and user preferences.

This feature aims to streamline the process of finding the right charging point, helping EV drivers to make quick and informed decisions. Here’s a breakdown of how this new feature works and why it was developed.

Why we introduced this feature

We understand that the EV charging landscape is growing rapidly, and with more chargers becoming available, it can be overwhelming for EV drivers to decide which charging point is best for them. Whether you're a frequent EV driver or a newcomer, finding the right plug that suits your vehicle's needs and your current location can sometimes be confusing.

Our Plug Suggestion Feature solves this by automatically recommending specific plugs from nearby charging points, saving EV drivers time and effort.

How it works: Smart Plug Suggestions based on user needs

The system works by displaying specific cards to EV drivers with information about available plugs that match their filters and current location on the map. Here’s how we decide which plugs to show:

  1. Bounding by Chargers on the Map: We start by identifying charging points within the user’s current map view. This ensures the suggestions are geographically relevant.
  2. Accessibility of Plugs: Only connected or active chargers are suggested, ensuring that the recommended plugs are ready for immediate use.
  3. User-Filtered Preferences: EV drivers can filter plugs based on criteria like plug type, ensuring the suggestions meet their specific needs.
  4. Best rating: We prioritize chargers that have the highest number of positive reviews.

What information will be displayed?

The recommended cards will feature essential information that helps EV drivers make quick decisions, including:

  • Location Name: So you can easily identify where the charger is.
  • Plug Type: Ensuring compatibility with the user’s vehicle.
  • Plug ID or Name: For easy reference.
  • Rating : To make sure you can easily select the best charger

Interactive experience: what happens when you click?

Once you click on one of the suggested card, you’ll see a preview of the charging station. You can easily check availability, view pricing, and decide if it’s the right charger for you. The map will also automatically adjust to reflect the selected charger’s location, making navigation easier.

Conclusion

Our mission is to provide electric vehicle users with fast, reliable, and easy access to charging infrastructure, driving the transition toward cleaner and more sustainable transportation. To achieve this, we are constantly working on developing new tools and features that make charging an EV easier for our users.

With the launch of this first version of our charger suggestion tool, we aim to lay the foundation for a truly valuable resource. For that reason, any suggestions, proposals, or constructive feedback to improve and evolve this tool are more than welcome, and we will consider them as part of its development.

Feel free to contact us and share your feedback.
