Alonso is so passionate about electric vehicles that in 2015 he got together with some friends and associates to set up AUVE, the Association of Electric Vehicle Users in Spain. And at that time he did not yet own an electric vehicle! He had to wait until 2018 to enjoy his Nissan Leaf on a daily basis.

Reasons to switch to a fully electric vehicle

Alonso's main motivation was caring for the planet. He doesn't like the “fume-spewers”, as he calls them, combustion vehicles. Alonso is so committed to a more sustainable lifestyle that he also has solar panels on his roof to produce green energy that contributes to charging his electric car and covers a part of his daily electricity consumption.

What are the brakes for the development of electric mobility?

Alonso believes that misinformation is one of the biggest brakes. And he fights against this on social media and forums, where he is very active.

Another brake are the charging points. According to Alonso, there are many non-users who still do not realize it or are not used to seeing them as easily as a petrol station, but there are everywhere... "There are more charging points than it seems". And Electromaps shows them on the map!

What does Electromaps provide?

Alonso recommends Electromaps to anyone who is interested in electric vehicles and wants to learn more about electric mobility. He highlights the app features, but also the informative work about electric mobility, news and tips.

Transcript of the video of the interview with Alonso Sánchez

Hello, I’m Alonso Sánchez, from the province of Guadalajara (Spain) and I’ve been an electric vehicle user since 2018, although I was already keen on owning one long before that. In fact, in 2015, together with a few friends and associates we set up AUVE -Association of Users of Electric Vehicles-. I’ve been a great fan of electric cars since then and eager to banish combustion vehicles once and for all “fume-spewers” as I like to call them. Out with the fume-spewers, out with the petrol, and let’s look after the planet.

What are the obstacles to the development of electric mobility?

I think one of the main ones is misinformation. People are very confused, because they hear bells… People who don’t know or don’t own an electric car and talk things up. Above all, misinformation.

And also the charging points that they don’t see them… Indeed, people think they are going to see them at every petrol station everywhere. And not all the points are in the petrol stations: they are in shopping centres, restaurants, and many other places. And there are more charging points than you might think. In fact, there is an app called Electrompas, which I show to people on my mobile phone and when they see how many points there are, they are astonished. “Are there so many?” Yes, yes, yes. Nowadays we can travel all over Spain with the charging points on the road. In the most remote parish there is a socket, so there is a charging point.

Would you recommend Electromaps to other electric vehicle users?

Of course, I recommend it all the time. When I show the charging points, I say: “Take a look at this website”. And when someone says on Facebook or in forums that they can’t find a charging point, I say: “visit this site to find out if we have charging points or not.”

It (Electromaps) also provides news and information about the charging points, prices, who the supplier is, and the photos that users could upload. In fact, I will probably have uploaded valuable information on over 30 points.
